Dana Point Festival of Whales

Be sure to take a day trip to Dana Point for the 52nd annual Dana Point Festival of Whales on March 4 to 5, to find out why this seaside spot is the world’s premier destination for dolphin and whale watching.

The annual return of California gray whales as they pass by the coast during their awe-inspiring annual migration draws crowds of tourists to the stunning Dana Point Harbor every year. Beginning on Friday, Mar. 3, the weekend will begin with a free welcome ceremony at The Festival of Whales and Ocean Institute from 4:45 to 9 p.m. This celebration will feature special guests, free interactive educational activities, captivating displays and plenty of food trucks. 

The following morning at 10 a.m. there will be a parade full of helium parade balloons, marching bands and decked-out floats. Then, all day long throughout Dana Point, guests can anticipate street fairs, local beers, clam chowder cook-offs, classic car displays, live concerts and, of course, whale watching. Finally, on Sunday, the final day of the Dana Point Festival of Whales, guests will be entertained by music, a spirit garden and BBQ at Baby Beach.
