Orange County Museum of Art Grand Opening
October 8 @ 5:00 pm - October 9 @ 5:00 pm
Inside and out, the new OCMA will be a piece of art. Experience the museum’s first contemporary art exhibitions, movie screenings, performances and more during its 24-hour grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Moving to Costa Mesa’s top cultural campus will give OCMA a convenient location, more exhibition space and welcoming public areas to enhance the museum’s engagement with the community via art. Extremely focused on connection, the new structure offers a roof terrace and several sets of large public staircases to serve as gathering places and conversation hubs.
With more than 25,000 square feet devoted to galleries, OCMA will be able to present both its personal curated collection and visiting exhibits at the same time. At the grand opening, you can see the 13 WOMEN exhibition, shown in several rotations, each showcasing 13 female artists from the collection who have made significant contributions to art history and share the same visionary nature as the 13 museum founders. The exhibition commemorates the museum’s opening in 1962 and its 60th anniversary.
Admission is free.
