How long have you been teaching? About to begin year 25!
What inspired you to be a teacher? In my early years of being in college, I actually was undecided on my choice in major/career. Being a teacher was never on top of my mind. However, during my years in high school and college, I learned that I was gifted in athleticism and English. That is the beauty in education– that you learn new things about yourself and train your gifts that you did not know you had. As said, I found myself being great in athletics and English; therefore, I had two choices, be an English teacher or P.E. teacher. I went the English route.
What is your greatest joy in teaching? Knowing I help shape lives.
What about your greatest challenge? Helping students see that effort matters.
If a student can have only one takeaway from time spent in your classroom, what would it be? Never compromise or hide the person you are for the sake of fitting in.
