Hometown: Tucson, Arizona

First job: Old Chicago Pizza

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: When I’m not working in the restaurant, I spend my free time in the sun. I love golfing, trying new restaurants and going to the beach with my dog.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Biggest accomplishment has to be winning “Guy’s Grocery Games” and donating my prize to Golden Rule Charity. I’ve been on so many different Food Network shows throughout the years and it feels good to give back to my restaurant community.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: I was the owner of Salt & Clever and it unfortunately shut down. Failing as a business owner was difficult and made me quesiton my career choices. However, I was able to pick myself back up and come back.

Someone who inspires you and why: Troy Johnson. Troy’s hard work and sacrifice has lead him to own one of San Diego’s biggest publications, San Diego Magazine, where he’s able to bolster his city and community.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Follow your heart. No matter what you do, you’ll have challenges, so at the end of the day do it if you love it.

Favorite quote: “A recipe has no soul. You, as the cook, must bring soul to the recipe.” –Thomas Keller

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’ve opened up over a dozen restaurants in the 16 years I’ve been in the industry.

What makes someone fabulous: Confidence. Whatever you do, OWN IT.
