Hometown: Irvine, CA

First job: I bought a cosmetics kiosk at the local mall when I was 16!

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: I love doing staycations in Laguna Beach with my family. Some of our favorite hotels are The Montage and Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment has been growing the Manna Kadar Beauty business without a single outside investment, and at the same time successfully raising my two little kids. The “Mom-preneur” life is a juggle so I guess doing it all IS my biggest accomplishment!

The biggest obstacle you overcame: I think the biggest obstacle has been financing the business. My business has been self-funded since day one, but growth requires additional capital so I had to find creative ways to make the dollar stretch. For example, I came up with creative solutions with manufacturing partners, inherently creating my own lines of credits without having a bank involved or having funds injected by private investors.

Someone who inspires you and why: I recently lost my mother, and lately I have really felt that impact and realized she was the inspiration this whole time, now more than ever.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Learn everything there is to know about the industry before you start and understand the marketplace/know your competition.

Favorite quote: “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” –Walt Disney

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: People may be surprised to know I love my quiet time and solo time. Don’t get me wrong, I love people and networking but mama needs to recharge too!

What makes someone fabulous: I was raised to put yourself together, that means taking the extra time (which only has to be seven minutes if you use my signature three-step Beauty Simplified System) to put on some makeup to feel great. Dress the part, even if you’re going to the gym or grocery store. We can all be fabulous any time, but let’s take care of ourselves and put in the effort! I really do believe that when you look good you feel better!
