Fabulous People: Tiffany Scott

Tiffany Scott is the founder and CEO of RÓEN, a luxury clean beauty line based in Los Angeles. “When I moved to Los Angeles for my formal education, I fell in love with the glamour and beauty so prevalent in that culture and it inspired me to create a beauty line that was clean, luxe and glamorous, my favorite things!” Learn about Tiffany Scott…

Hometown: Salt Lake City, Utah

First job: Working at my step mother’s salon/spa when I was 17.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: Being raised in Utah, I had the ability to do a lot of skiing and hiking, but obviously didn’t get to enjoy the beauty of the ocean. When I moved to LA, I fell in love with the ocean and being able to visit it all the time. I love to take long bike rides by the water and find a cool spot for lunch and just hang out.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: The creation of RÓEN is definitely my biggest accomplishment. I feel I have always been an entrepreneur at heart, but thinking it and doing are two different things. Starting a company has given me an appreciation for founders and what it takes to build a successful company. The beauty industry is a particularly challenging and competitive, one that is constantly evolving and changing, especially today.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: I would say my biggest obstacle that I have overcome (I hope) is my fear of speaking and being in the limelight. I’m a bit of a reluctant CEO when it comes to public speaking and being at the forefront of the brand. I’m much better behind the scenes as the vision behind the brand, researching and working on R&D and managing our very talented team. I have never been too comfortable as the face of the brand; however, the more I push myself to do it, the more comfortable I have become and I’m slowly overcoming my anxieties.

Someone who inspires you and why: I have always been inspired by women entrepreneurs. As someone who has been obsessed with fashion and beauty, I have looked up to women like Bobbi Brown and Charlotte Tilbury as visionaries in beauty business. Coco Chanel has always been someone I look up to. She overcame significant disadvantages of growing up in poverty, in an orphanage and started a business in the 1920’s, something unheard of for a woman in those days. Coco didn’t allow her circumstances to define her or dissuade her from becoming an entrepreneur and look what happened–she started one the most successful luxury brands in the world that is still going strong 100 years later! She had a vision, a dream, she passionately pursued letting nothing stop her until she made it happen.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: I think the best advice for any job is to find out what you are passionate about and be the best you can be. The most successful people are passionate about what they do and work 24 hours a day. It always helps to have a little bit of luck, but if you work hard and persevere success will follow.

Favorite quote: “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” –Martin Luther King Jr.

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’m a foodie. As much as I am passionate about clean beauty, I am probably equally as passionate about food and nutrition. I love cooking at home and dining at new and interesting restaurants especially when I travel. I adore different cultures and how they express themselves with food.

What makes someone fabulous: Inner beauty! When someone has a beautiful mind and soul, it radiates and is infectious.
