Bun & Patti Opens in San Diego’s Little Italy

A fine dining twist on casual comfort food, Bun & Patti in San Diego serves up gourmet burgers with approachable familiarity.

San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood is welcoming a new modern American classic, Bun & Patti. Created from the minds of husband-and-wife couple, Amy and Elion Prodani, Bun & Patti curates burgers bursting with flavor while keeping the familiarity we all know and love–thanks to their two decades of fine-dining management experience. Bun & Patti pays a tribute to Amy’s mother “Patti” who served high-low pairings herself with fresh burgers off the grill and delicious glasses of wine.

To cultivate the ultimate fine-casual dining experience, Amy worked with architecture Andy McCabe out of Oceanside in order to curate a 1920’s New York bistro–complete with a French twist. Moody and masculine, the restaurant is alluring in both atmosphere and flavorful ambition.

Speaking of food, Amy and Elion made sure to craft only the best burgers for their San Diego seaside bistro with the help of Executive Chef DeShawn Washington–who brings over five years of stellar cooking experience. Burger patties are crafted from two-thirds Angus choice chuck as well as brisket from Gold Canyon Meat Co.–with the last third made from third-generation beef from Flannery Farms in Petaluma.

Served in 6-oz. patties, you can indulge in single- or double-patty burgers–with vegan options available. Your gourmet experience wouldn’t be complete without myriad bun options such as salt and pepper brioche buns, pretzel buns or vegan sesame buns from Rockenwagner Bakery in Los Angeles.

While the restaurant deems the name “Bun & Patti,” they didn’t forget the toppings that elevate every burger, like Baker’s Bacon that is double-smoked and finished in the sous vide for a magical, melt-in-your-mouth experience. Try the signature “secret sauce” flavored with thyme and shallot for the perfect bite every time.

Taste one of the restaurant’s very own creations, the Smoke Show–a Flannery Farm 14-day dry-aged beef patty topped with truffle aioli–sandwiched between a salt and pepper brioche bun. If you’d like to opt for a non-burger selection, Bun & Patti does not disappoint with Lady A’s Chicken Wings, served in a sauce of your choice (garlic parmesan, classic buffalo or hot honey are all astounding options)! But no one can go wrong with their crisp wedge salad or their stack of golden onion rings.

Whether you want a sweet finish or a boozy beverage, Bun & Patti brings the drinks for all its customers. Rich vanilla and chocolate milkshakes cater to the nostalgic diner crowd while a glass of bubbly fancies the high-low enjoyers.

Come to Bun & Patti for the feeling and flavor of home cooking with an extraordinary twist.

Bun & Patti is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, visit bunandpatti.com.
