Cellar Hand San Diego Restaurant

Crafted by the family behind Pali Wine Co., Cellar Hand – San Diego’s newest resident and restaurant – pairs the best of California’s wine pours with seafood hors d’oeuvres.

Opening its doors in June 2024, Cellar Hand is already making a statement with a menu boasting culinary creations and drink offerings as vibrant and colorful as the neighborhood that surrounds it.

Nestled in the heart of Hillcrest, Cellar Hand is bringing an all-new meaning to farm-to-table (or farmer’s market-to-table, in this case). Focused on curating a hyper-local experience and located mere steps from the famous Hillcrest Farmer’s Market, owners Nick and Carmen Perr aim to showcase all that California has to offer through sustainable practice and local selection of seafood, greens, and native ingredients.

With an indoor-outdoor bar and a spacious 1,100-sq.-ft. patio, the ambiance established by outdoor firepits and artwork painted by Nick himself sets the tone for carefree conversation and intellectual connection. Whether one is seeking out the newest weeknight happy hour meet-up or looking for an intimate dinner date spot, Cellar Hand caters to all intentions.

As the Perrs’ first full-service restaurant, the family tapped in Chef Logan Kendall not only to bring their passion project to life, but also to do so for many California artisans, farmers, and stewards alike.

Kendall’s menu may be simple, yet the flavor is not. Commence the evening with Mediterranean-inspired light bites such as the whipped Tahina featuring ezme, pomegranate molasses and zaatar atop wood-fired pita or the house labneh topped with rainbow trout caviar and ruby grapefruit. For the meat of the experience, indulge in the savor of brown butter, rosemary and smoked almond on the signature Thompson Heritage Berkshire pork or the ramp aioli and Espelette-dressed Serrano ham croquettes.
