At Heirloom Farmhouse Kitchen at Marriott Irvine Spectrum, Chef Nelson Sanchez pays homage to the land by using the most fresh and seasonal ingredients, many of which are sourced from local farms. Diners are invited to grab a seat at the spacious bar, in the ultra-comfy lounge (complete with a massive TV for catching a game), in the open, airy dining room or on the beautiful patio. The space–which is decked in a serene neutral palette–is perfect for a brunch with friends, a date night or even a celebratory family dinner.
Before digging in, a look at the cocktail menu is in order. The Paper Crane, featuring Kikori whiskey, Yuzuri liqueur, nonino amaro, Liquid Alchemist ginger and lemon, is zingy and delicious, topped with a tiny paper crane. Perfect for summer, Purple Rain–which is the prettiest purple hue–is a refreshing concoction of Hendrick’s gin, orange-vanilla oleo, Giffard passionfruit, St. Germain, lemon, lime and lavender bitters.
The dinner menu is the just-right size comprising shared plates, salads, pizzas and mains. Don’t miss the Brussels sprouts, paired with chipotle honey and chorizo Bilbao, and the colorful beet salad–golden beets, whipped goat cheese, watercress, orange segments, watermelon radish, beet puree, shallot, vinaigrette and glazed almonds–to kick off your feast.
As for the main event, the squid ink pasta with shrimp ragu beautifully showcases seasonal flavors, like lemon, fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes, in a decadent dish. The heartiest appetites will savor the 14-oz. prime pork chop, paired with kale, butter beans and pickled chilies.
Though diners can close the meal with rich dishes like pecan crumble or pineapple upside-down cake, Heirloom Farmhouse Kitchen really shines in its simplicity. That said, the housemade gelato is divine. Flavors rotate so fingers crossed that coconut is on the menu.
