Restaurant of the Week: Beeside Balcony

Beeside Balcony in old Del Mar is a beautiful restaurant featuring a lovely balcony with views of the ocean and delightful Mediterranean cuisine.

As the name suggests, the restaurant sits on the second floor above its sister concept, Cevasco’s. The vibe at Beeside Balcony is open and airy with a causal sophistication and views of the ocean. It is an ideal spot for lunch, brunch, dinner with friends, or even a romantic sunset dinner with a loved one.

Regardless of what time of day you are visiting Beeside Balcony, you cannot go wrong with any of its delicious house cocktails. The Prickly Lady is both beautiful and delicious, served with your choice of vodka or tequila, prickly pear cactus, sweet pear and lime. Other fun cocktail options are the Del Mar Derby, The Bitter End and Lavender’s Bee’s Knees. The restaurant also has a great selection of beers and wines, and sangria and mimosas for brunch service.

To start your meal, we recommend the Trio of Dips with artichoke hummus, spicy htipiti, house tzatziki and warm pita. We couldn’t choose a favorite dip because they were all fabulous and packed so much flavor. For lunch, you will find salads, sandwiches and entrees including a grilled Spanish octopus entree with potato fondant, smoked paprika, onion and bacon jus, white truffle and a lemon vinaigrette arugula salad. If you’re enjoying dinner at Beeside Balcony, you will see a Faroe Islands salmon, peppercorn filet mignon and a gratin de pasta with homemade meatballs, San Marzano sauce and cheese gratin. For weekend brunch, you can’t go wrong with the shrimp toasts with sautéed shrimp, country bread, Pernod cream sauce, lemon, wilted arugula, cheese blanket and arugula salad.
