Restaurant of the Week: Boozehounds

Boozehounds in Palm Springs is an aesthetic, unique culinary hotspot serving brunch, dinner and libations for all guests, even those with a tail and four legs.

Born from the love owners Jimmy McGill and Steve Piacenza shared for dogs, Boozehounds was created with a focus on creating a spot for people to socialize in a friendly environment with their pups alongside them. The duo pulled inspiration from their beloved dog, Stricker, to not only create a logo but to bring Stricker’s cool, laidback personality and legacy into Boozehounds.

The restaurant’s eccentric interior brings the retro side of Palm Springs to light, with Instagramable neon signs, luxe velvet couches, quirky wallpaper and a laidback appeal. Outdoor-style dining is available to enjoy when the weather is forgiving, with an outdoor glass atrium and extensive patio seating with a design pulled from its surrounding desert escape.

A menu, led by Executive Chef Corey Baker, features sweeter brunch plates like the white chocolate bread pudding French toast crafted with white chocolate, salted caramel, chantilly cream and a bourbon maple syrup; and more savory morning starters like the crab benedict, completed with a fine herb crab cake, poached eggs, an artisan muffin, thyme hollandaise, crispy prosciutto and agave pickled onion. The dinner options include lighter items like the sweet spot prawn shrimp ceviche with red agua chile, fried shrimp heads, red onion, avocados and cilantro, or the oven-roasted, sweet chili Brussels sprouts. For those with more of an appetite, main courses are available like the must-try skirt steak, a Creekstone Farms prime cut with chile verde foam and cilantro.

A doggy-style menu for your pups comes complete with main dishes as well as light snacks and treats. There are brunch options, like the Brunch Bowl, with sweet potato, hard-boiled eggs and a bacon “jerky” treat; and dinner mains like the Weenie-Tini, crafted with chicken broth and chicken whipped cream. Luxe treats are also available with a variety of meats and flavors to choose from, like duck, turkey or chicken.

Beverage Director Justin Gordon brings unique handcrafted cocktails to the Boozehounds table with concoctions like Aunt Donna’s Dirty Poodle, complete with Akashi White Oak Whiskey, Nigori sake, house-made yuzu-Meyer lemon shrub, miso-mirin syrup and chocolate bitters, or the Old Yeller, crafted with Sipsmith London dry gin, Cocchi americano, Strega saffron and a lavender-citrus mist. A fine wine menu and beer selection are also available.
