Hilton Santa Monica Hotel & Suites will be your new happy place. Located in West Los Angeles, the luxe hotel is walking distance from popular destinations like the shops on 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica Pier and the beach.
Opened in April 2021, Hilton Santa Monica Hotel & Suites features upscale rooms with a coastal influence, more than 200 of which are luxury suites. Not only are they some of the largest suites in the area, a select few also have balconies with an ocean view.
The suites at Hilton Santa Monica Hotel are larger than some apartments in LA. Upon walking into our room, we were greeted by a large sitting room with a table and chairs, TV and sleeper sofa. Through the hallway, we found a mini refrigerator, coffee maker and a large bathroom. Finally, we reached the bedroom with a king bed and a balcony that provided a clear view of the sun setting over the ocean. No matter how long we live in California, we’ll never get sick of the sign of the ocean or the feel of its breeze.
After settling in, we went off to find the pool. While it was a beautiful and sunny day when we visited, the Hilton Santa Monica Hotel has a heated pool so that guests can enjoy it all year long. While there is plenty of seating, cabanas are available to secure your spot and provide extra comfort. Additionally, in-room spa services are available for those who want to relax and a 24-hour fitness center complete with state-of-the-art equipment is available for those who want to break a sweat.
When we started getting hungry, we didn’t have to go far for a delicious dinner. Hilton Santa Monica Hotel’s onsite restaurant is aptly named Monica’s. Each week, the chefs source their ingredients from a local farmer’s market for genuinely fresh California cuisine. In addition to local food, Monica’s also features local breweries. We started with one glass of Monica’s House Blonde Ale and another of the Cali Squeeze Blood Orange Hefeweizen of San Luis Obispo.
For our appetizer, we chose the truffle fries which came loaded with garlic, parsley and parmesan cheese and a side of truffle aioli. You can’t go wrong with local beer and perfectly cooked French fries. The starter was followed up with Snake River Farms braised short ribs and the Sa-Mo Burger. The short ribs are ideally succulent and served with flavorful butternut squash puree, pearl onions, parsnip chips and au jus. The burger consisted of a 8-oz. wagyu beef, aged smoked cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, avocado, garlic aioli, arugula and tomatoes–all settled inside a brioche bun. The burger was cooked to perfection and each ingredient worked together to form a wonderful experience in each bite. While dining at Monica’s, don’t forget to save room for dessert. The triple chocolate mousse cake is pure velvet that melts in your mouth. Truly one of the best chocolate desserts we’ve had in a long time.
