Milliken Creek Inn

Milliken Creek Inn

There is something to be said for indulgent, opulent, high-concept resorts with grandeur around every corner. But, there is also something to be said – nay, shouted from the rooftops – about boutique-sized beauty that envelops you in a warm cocoon from the constant motion and stress of the outside world. That is what Milliken Creek Inn in Napa Valley offers.

The 11-room palace to personal, customized service is just off Silverado Trail, a major road in Napa, yet when you turn in; it feels a million miles from anything except romance and relaxation.

Visually, imagine a series of chic, modern farmhouses nestled amongst mature trees and greenery as far as the eye can see. Once you come closer, a bubbling creek appears as if from nowhere, lulling you into a sense of utter bliss with its slow, hypnotic dance downstream.

Feeling good? Yeah, it gets better. That is because to celebrate its 20th year in operation, in 2021 the renowned inn began a sweeping renovation to both its public spaces and lavish rooms. Now complete, the newly reopened Milliken exudes with even more chicness and sophistication across its lush three acres. The indoor public spaces feature neutral, earthy hues and natural light throughout, immediately providing on a sense of calmness and serenity upon entering. The palette and lighting combine seamlessly with the ample al fresco areas, which are dotted by bubbling fountains, lawns with croquet, lounge furniture and fire pits as well as Japanese maple trees and oak trees planted on the property more than 100 years ago.

The rooms themselves match the sleek, sophisticated vibe as the public spaces, yet each has a floorplan and style all its own. Many rooms have personal fire pits and/or river views, some even offering private patios and decks, as well as deep soaking tubs, cozy fireplaces and expansive sitting areas. In-room dining is available at the touch of a button thanks to specialty iPads, and each room has a flat-screen Apple television as well.

Given the privacy and intimacy the inn offers, it is especially ideal for couples. Further making the case further is the inn’s included daily gourmet breakfast offering. Through it, guests may choose to have breakfast delivered to the room, set up along the river or delivered anywhere else on the vibrantly green grounds each morning. A wine and cheese tasting is also delivered to each room daily – or if you check in a bit later after a day of wine tasting, wine and cheese tasting kits are set aside for you in the lobby to grab and go as you please – as are freshly baked cookies, s’mores kits and a unique turndown service tailor-made for romance wherein the innkeepers turn down the bed, light the fire, dim the lights and turn on mood music to welcome couples back after the day’s adventures.

Each stay also includes personalized concierge services with Napa and Sonoma-area experts who can assist in the planning of a perfect wine country vacation, including making reservations for tastings at coveted vineyards and restaurants as well as arranging hot air balloon and horseback rides and even arranging tickets for a day on the nearby Napa Valley Wine Train, as well as guest passes to use the nearby Synergy Health Club, a full-service gym and aquatics center. For an added fee guests may reserve a Balance & Bliss Theragun Kit, which includes the use of personal massage equipment and one’s own yoga mat and a workout mat for the duration of the stay.

To celebrate both the inn’s anniversary and its impressive facelift, there are several packages from which guests may choose, notably The Perfect Getaway Package, which includes 30 percent off published room rates if staying two or more nights now through March 2022.
