The Richland Opens in Orange

With mature olive trees, modern yet cozy spaces and architectural history, The Richland, an intimate boutique hotel and event space, is open in the city of Orange.

Created by 24 Carrots, a hospitality group with a growing collection of destinations in Orange County, The Richland is a new boutique hotel in the heart of the historic Old Towne district and plaza in O.C.

The newly opened space is a reimagined historic site that holds 12 luxury guest rooms and suites, an intimate living room lounge, a beautiful ballroom, and indoor and outdoor event spaces. The building was originally a private residence, and SoCal-based designer Raili Clasen refreshed the area to have a modern design while maintaining its architectural integrity. During the renovation process, Clasen’s team stripped the exterior facades to reveal original wood shingles and uncovered a picturesque bay window that breathed new life into the space.

Living Room Bar and Lounge

A mature olive tree greets guests upon arrival, in addition to a gable-roofed porch with aromatic jasmine vines. The lobby’s design features a warm and inviting environment with dark wood elements, nods of leather and a soft color palette with olive greens, sages and muted yellows. No two rooms are alike at The Richland, with each guest space housing curated furniture selections, original wood flooring, handwoven rugs and unexpected wallpapers.

A unique cocktail lounge is located in the center of The Richland: Living Room Bar and Lounge. As its name suggests, the hangout rests in a living room with citrus grove wallpaper, custom Sean Woolsey Studio-designed barstools and decorative items from the many antique stores in Orange. Guests can expect to enjoy craft cocktails when visiting, in addition to a selection of Chapman Crafted Beer and seasonal small plates.

The Estelle Ballroom

The Estelle Ballroom, a 150-person venue, is available for weddings, events and special occasions. The beautiful space is rich in exposed wood, flooding natural light, polished concrete floors and a cascade of chandeliers providing an almost ethereal setting. A private suite can be rented for wedding parties, with an exclusive room for bridal groups to get ready just above the ballroom.

An overnight stay at the boutique cottage starts at $300 per night, based on double occupancy. This rate includes accommodations, like daily freshly-baked pastries and luxe amenities.
