With Mother’s Day just around the corner on May 9, it’s time to get some reservations on the books. From bubbly-paired brunches (and a tempting Rainbow Mimosa Bucket!) to Mom-approved spa treatments and resort specials, here are 25-plus ways to ring in Mother’s Day throughout California.

Chef David Kinch of Manresa in Los Gatos is gearing up to resume indoor service, with reservations now open for May 19 and beyond. Prior to that date, a Manresa Family Meal menu will be offered to celebrate Mother’s Day on May 9. The menu will feature supplements as well as wine, beer, Champagne and cocktail-pairing recommendations. Manresa will also offer boxes of Manresa Chocolates, both as a supplement on May 9, as well as for pre-order and pick-up on Saturday, May 8. Pre-orders are available via Tock.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano’s signature restaurant, Ysidora, invites families to relax, unwind and indulge with a curated prix-fixe menu while listening to live music. The menu features notable dishes including bread pudding-style crunchy French toast and sweet treats like the pecan caramel tart.

Treat the special lady in your life at STK at W Los Angeles West Beverly Hills. This Mother’s Day, moms can enjoy a special Roses & Rosé Brunch and Dinner at STK Los Angeles or The Hideout, an al fresco dining experience. For those who want to enjoy breakfast in bed or from the comfort of their own home, STK at W Los Angeles is also offering a specially prepared, pre-ordered Mother’s Day basket, with surf and turf, cheesecake and a bottle of Whispering Angel Rosé.

Rancho Bernardo Inn

Spoil Mom at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego with AVANT’s special four-course prix-fixe Champagne brunch with garden-to-table dishes and artisan libations. Enjoy bottomless sparkling wine and the likes of citrus parfait, Hamachi Yakitori, country-fried quail and souffle pancakes, challah French toast and more. Brunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For the ultimate holiday, book the Mom’s Getaway package, which includes overnight accommodations, a Champagne welcome amenity, room service breakfast and complimentary parking. 

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa is offering families its signature plated Grand Buffet, complete with a seafood station, carving station, salads, sides and array of yummy desserts. Kids can even play with crafts and enjoy activities just for them, along with take-home goodies.

Enjoy a three-course meal on The Front Yard at The Garland’s expansive outdoor patio, paired with signature cocktails, wine or local brews in North Hollywood. Entrees include Chilean sea bass, lobster Bolognese and smoked salmon benny. (Vegan and vegetarian dishes are available upon request.)

Treat Mama to the Mom Spa Day Package, with a 90-minute Pendry Massage or Hydrate + Regenerate Facial, complimentary glass of bubbly, access to the Rooftop Pool, a 10 percent discount at the Spa Boutique, a take-home Sculpted Lip Oil and $15 valet parking, at Pendry San Diego’s Spa Pendry. This package is priced at $260, available weekdays in May. Moms can also learn to create their own charcuterie boards with Courtney Rangel of @board_in_the_houze with a special Mother’s Day Charcuterie Making and Wine Party on May 8 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Provisional Kitchen. Tickets can be purchased here ($75). Fifth & Rose at Pendry San Diego will also have a special Mother’s Day Bubbles x Brunch dished up on May 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lionfish

On 5th Avenue in Downtown San Diego, James Beard Smart Catch Leader and Executive Chef JoJo Ruiz of Lionfish will be debuting special menu items for Mom’s big day. Choose from a Softshell Benedict or Bombolini Duo, and indulge in bottomless mimosas, sparkling rose and Aperol spritz — all on top of a the divine brunch menu. Brunch is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa will be toasting Mother’s Day with a decadent brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and signature spa experiences. Brunch options to please every palate include poached gulf prawns, butter-poached lobster benedict and several inspired desserts from the live-action dessert buffet. Be sure to toast your well-deserving Mum at the bottomless Champagne Bar serving classic mimosas and bellinis.

Afternoon tea has been a Fairmont San Francisco tradition since 1907, and the resort welcomes guests back to the hotel for this unmatched Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. The decadent experience begins with a selection of elegant tea choices from the hotel’s signature Lot 35 brand, followed by tea sandwiches, scones with rich clotted cream and home-made jam, and an array of sweets. Enjoy a toast with a chilled glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne. Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea will be served May 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Reservations may be made online here.

Sit back and sip on unlimited Champagne as live music fills the air and indulge in scratch-made dishes using only the freshest ingredients and regional flavors at ARLO at Town and Country in San Diego. Specialties include porchetta and cheese, a Cajun Chicken & Biscuit, charcoal avocado toast and more, available 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

True Food Kitchen at Westfield UTC

True Food Kitchen at Westfield UTC hosts weekend-long brunch specials and a chance to win one of the Kendra Scott giveaways as part of the True Rewards program. Rappahannock Oyster Bar

For Mother’s Day brunch (11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), the East Coast seafood restaurant, Rappahannock Oyster Bar at ROW DTLA, will offer a mimosa, three raw oysters and choice of lobster benedict or lobster roll for $35 per person. Rappahannock will also serve a mini seafood platter plus a bottle of Cava for $55, available all day (11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

Pikunico at ROW DTLA will celebrate Mother’s Day with a special plant pop-up, offering Bozu bonsai plants for guests to purchase as gift for Mom with all orders throughout Mother’s Day weekend. Additionally, with all Family Basket ($32, serves four) orders on May 8 and May 9 (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.), Pikunico will gift one free Miso de Leche cookie to all celebrating mothers. Family Baskets include Pikunico chicken tenders with choice of large coleslaw, fingerling potatoes and two ginger onigiris.

Theía in West Hollywood will offer a special three-course, prix-fixe Mother’s Day brunch for $50 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the regular dinner menu available after 3 p.m. Dishes include salmon beet tartare, veal Milanese, coconut-rose custard and more. Additionally, anyone celebrating Mother’s Day will receive a complimentary sweet treat, paired with San Pellegrino’s new line of Essenza Coffee Flavors.

Urban Plates offers spacious patios open for dine-in, in addition to takeout, curbside and delivery. Guests can enjoy the likes of grilled grass-fed steak or sustainable salmon; Hummingbird Cake; the famed Mango Tart; and many other options.

Treat Mom to a coastal Mexican-inspired brunch at one of SOL Mexican Cocina‘s two Southern California locations. Weekend brunch dishes and drinks include Ultimate Breakfast Torta, La Vida Quinoa Bowl, SOL’s Bloody Mary, Michelada and Casamigos Paloma. Brunch is offered on Saturday, May 8, and Sunday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Baltaire

Baltaire, the contemporary steakhouse led by Chef Travis Strickland in Brentwood, celebrates Mother’s Day with an a la carte brunch menu from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Baltaire is not currently offering regular weekend brunch service, so this is a unique opportunity.

Las Brisas, with views of the Laguna Beach coastline, will offer an exquisite three-course Mother’s Day brunch for $72 per person from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as its al la carte menu for dinner. Seating is available on the expansive ocean-view patios, or in the dining room which also offers views of the coastline. Menu items include dishes like the smoked salmon tostada with crema, capers and pickled onions; spicy tuna tostada with avocado mousse and Fresno chile; French toast with berries, coco nibs, macadamia nuts and citrus butter; and much more.

El Torito Grill, an upscale Mexican-inspired dining spot in Brea, offers its all-you-can-eat brunch for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests can enjoy made-to-order specialties from stations throughout the restaurant, including a fajita station, salad station, omelets, dessert station and more.

The laid-back Baja-inspired Solita Tacos invites guests to celebrate Mother’s Day with a weekend brunch spread of chilaquiles, brunch potato nachos and berry cinnamon bread pudding. Toast to Mom with the Rainbow Mimosa Bucket, with up to four fruit choices pre-poured in your Champagne glasses and an iced bottle of sparkling wine. Brunch is offered all Mother’s Day weekend from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
