Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival

The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is the largest Cherry Blossom Festival on the West Coast and one of California’s most renowned celebrations of Asian culture. Be sure to visit San Francisco Japantown on April 8 and 9 or April 15 and 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to experience all of the family-friendly festivities.
Since 1968, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival has used culture to foster the enduring relationship between Japan and the United States. Around 220,000 people visit this magnificent spectacle each year, which showcases the vivid colors and elegance of Japanese culture, as well as the rich legacy and variety of the Japanese American community.
The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival includes traditional arts, live music, the yearly Queen Program and other activities sure to please guests of all ages. Guests can browse collections of miniature Japanese Bonsai trees, watch contemporary and traditional styles of odori Japanese dance on the Japantown Peace Plaza Stage, experience lots of fresh blooms and even learn about Japanese pop culture and how it’s influenced media, music, fashion and lifestyle across the globe.
