Oceanside International Film Festival

February 20 @ 12:00 am - February 24 @ 12:00 am

Home to a prolific art scene, Oceanside welcomes the Oceanside International Film Festival (OIFF) in its 13th year beginning Tuesday, Feb. 20, to Saturday, Feb. 24, at The Brooks Theater.

A more boutique and unique festival, Oceanside International Film Festival (OIFF) curates films that speak to the community, including a number of surf films and movies featuring ties to the community; the festival kicks off the annual film festival circuit.

OIFF is an opportunity for independent filmmakers from around the globe to screen their work and gives attendees a chance to view local and international cinema in Oceanside’s artistic community. OIFF is a unique festival that selects its theme once all films are submitted. This allows the festival a wide range of exploration and discovery of films that have a variety of styles. In total, OIFF features around 40 to 50 films from around the world with a mix of comedy, dark, documentaries, skate, surf, music and more.

The festival will feature week-long events including an opening night red carpet at the Oceanside Museum of Art featuring Jason Hill, a musician who has composed music for films including “Gone Girl,” “Mind Hunter” (Netflix), and more. There will be a one-on-one with Jason where guests will get a behind-the-scenes look at inspiration and problem-solving from Hill as well as the opportunity to better understand the industry and profession. Following the red carpet, the films will be shown at The Brooks Theater. On Saturday, the film block is sponsored by Soroptimist Oceanside/Carlsbad and focuses on women-related writers, directors and topics. Saturday night is the OIFF Awards and will announce the winners of the OIFF and wrap up the weeklong festival. Between screenings, filmmakers and movie-goers can visit the famous Oceanside sights like the house featured in “Top Gun”, The California Surf Museum, the world-renowned Oceanside Museum of Art or the longest wooden pier on the western United States coastline, all within walking distance from The Brooks Theater.
