Hammer Burger

Hammer Burger is proof that incredible food doesn’t have to be complicated. One of Orange County’s most beloved food trucks, Hammer Burger is officially serving its signature smashed patties in its first restaurant in Downtown Santa Ana. Using a special blend of high-quality beef, house-made pickles and sauce, and Martin’s Potato Rolls, Hammer Burger provides a superior burger experience.

Covered in colorful, purposeful graffiti, Hammer Burger’s brick-and-mortar location immediately emulates a fun and welcoming vibe. Perfect for a dinner with friends, family or a casual date night, Hammer Burger is one of those places that you want to stop by on the weekend or will make you scrap cooking plans after work to eat out.

A great burger deserves a great adult beverage to wash it down with. True to its California roots, Hammer Burger offers a variety of beers, a seltzer and a sour made right here in the Golden State. The restaurant also offers an extensive list of canned beers and wines made as close as California and as far as Spain.

Hammer Burger’s loaded fries could be a meal all on their own. We ordered the classic American chili cheese fries, which is constructed with crisp, standard cut fries and topped with house-made chili and beer cheese. This rendition is packed with flavor and so addicting we couldn’t stop eating them. They also have the option of Hammer Fries or spicy fries, which are both topped with two patties in addition to delicious toppings like Hammer sauce or grilled jalapeno.

If you think a burger is just a burger, you haven’t been to Hammer Burger. The CaliBama Q is made with onion rings, grilled onion, white BBQ sauce and American cheese on a potato roll. The crunchy onion rings, the sweetness of grilled onions and the unique taste of white BBQ sauce is such an incredible combination and enough to entice us to return again and again.

If you’re looking for something a little different, one of Hammer Burger’s cult favorites is the Flatty Melt. A patty, cheese, pickles, onions and house-made mustard sauce is put between a potato burger. Toasting the buns ups the ante so it becomes crisp and flattened to resemble the bread of a patty melt.

For those who like a little heat, the Spicy Smash will pack the punch you enjoy so much. Made with a patty, grilled jalapeño, grilled onion, hot sauce, chipotle mayo and pepper jack cheese on a potato roll, the Spicy Smash has a kick without overwhelming your senses with too much heat.

You always need a side to go with your burger! We selected the onion rings, which are perfectly crisp and tasted wonderful with a wide range of house-made dipping sauces (think garlic sauce, chipotle mayo, jalapeno ranch and more). Hammer Burger also offers sweet potato fries, shoestring fries and fried pickles, if onions aren’t your thing.

If you have a sweet tooth, do your best to save some room for its popular soft serve ice cream, available in vanilla, chocolate or swirl.

Hammer Burger is open Tuesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.hammerburger.com.
