LaFayette Hotel & Club Reopens in San Diego

Following a $31-million renovation, the refreshed vibe at the historic LaFayette Hotel & Club in San Diego resonates with opulence and splendor.

Upon first steps through the formal gilded entryway, the newly renovated LaFayette Hotel & Club takes guests on an aesthetically rich journey rooted in traditional Victorian, Tudor and Gothic details, designed by award-winning firm, Post Company.

“We are obsessive about creating experiences for the community that both celebrate our weird, wonderful pockets of subculture and provide elements of escapism,” says Arsalun Tafazoli, founder of CH Projects, LaFayette’s owner and developer, in a press release. “A hotel is the pinnacle of hospitality, the most complex canvas on which people can socialize and connect deeply. We hope this new incarnation of LaFayette Hotel & Club reflects our mission to honor tradition while making something new and surreal to discover.”

From the music to the cocktails, LaFayette Hotel & Club, located in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood, is a bespoke designed environment and enchanting immersive experience. Renowned music producer Swizz Beats created the hotel’s soundtrack on a custom-built speaker system designed by Devon Turnbull. In-room bars feature spirit collections curated by nationally renowned cocktail expert Paul McGee.

Renovations touched on the guest rooms, suites and townhouses, as well as uniquely curated dining experiences. Beginners Diner pays homage to its 1940’s heritage through fountain drinks and traditional diner design details, while the Lobby Bar features classic cocktails beneath a soaring glass atrium and hand-painted ceiling by artist Joāo Incerti, and Quixote serves heirloom grains and mezcal amidst stained-glass windows, dark woods and flickering Santa Maria candles. The Pool Bar evokes 1980’s luxury on the Amalfi Coast through spritzes served on a sun-drenched patio and The Gutter, a game room with a two-lane bowling alley, pool tables and shuffleboard offers a whimsical escape with classic cocktails.
