Huntress Steakhouse San Diego

Huntress is an upscale, modern steakhouse in Gaslamp Quarter in Downtown San Diego that offers a truly memorable dinner experience with stunning decor, incredible cocktails and food, and impeccable service.

They say first impressions are everything, and Huntress does not disappoint in that department. The moment you step in you are enthralled by the stylish and contemporary dining space that boasts striking architectural features, including a prominent wall adorned with framed butcher knives and an impressive marble bar. Ascend to the second-floor Mezzanine to discover a Japanese whisky bar and distinct dining zones, including a cozy wine-tasting area, offering VIP guests a captivating view overlooking the main floor. The exclusive private dining area, The Grand Pacific Room, situated on the third level, provides a distinctive and imaginative setting that seamlessly blends design with functionality.

Named after a powerful persona of strength, elegance and primal instinct, the restaurant is a direct reflection of the Huntress herself. The menu is bold with unexpected pairings and theatrical presentations, featuring the freshest seafood and finest cuts of meat. Elegant starters include bone marrow-basted oysters, steak tartare and what we may dare to say is one of the best hamachi crudo we have ever tasted. As expected of any good steakhouse, Huntress also offers seafood towers and caviar for the table. Another must-try prelude to your main course is the lobster curry soup with poached Maine lobster and truffle caviar.

Obviously, the main attraction at Huntress is the meat entrees. This section on the menu is cleverly titled “The Hunt” and features fine cuts such as filet mignon, bone-in New York, Japanese A5 cuts, Wagyu beef cheek and dry-aged roasted duck. These are all so high quality and cooked to perfection, they need nothing more, but the accompaniments and sauces are too good to not add. Steak accompaniments and sauces include colossal prawns, Maine lobster tail, bone marrow butter, Oscar style, black truffle butter, sauce béarnaise, Argentinian chimichurri, port wine demi-glace, atomic creamy horseradish, Huntress steak sauce and Armagnac peppercorn sauce. Complete your entree with whipped Yukon potato puree, gnocchi mac and cheese or smoked maitake mushrooms.

Saving room for dessert is a must at Huntress. The famed Magic Mushroom is a dessert mirroring a fairytale scene, emerging from a smoking dish and bursting with color and flavor. This Instagrammable dish is as delicious as it is mesmerizing.
