Founded by Carol and Jonathan Goldwasser in 2017, Parakeet Café’s first location opened in the La Jolla Village. The idea was birthed from a challenging time for the Goldwassers when they learned how important food can be as medicine. The brand focuses on the parakeet through the colors and art, making every location’s decor vibrant, Insta-worthy and offering feel-good vibes.
Parakeet Café serves up health-conscious food, coffee, tea and freshly baked goods prepared with the highest quality, organic and locally sourced ingredients. The menu consists of unique coffee creations, nutrient-packed smoothies, a wonderful selection of vegan and gluten-free pastries, breakfast egg dishes and salads, sandwiches, bowls, soups and burgers. Standout breakfast items at Parakeet Café Carlsbad include the vegan and gluten-free activated charcoal Belgian waffle with date-coconut cream, strawberries, banana, house-made granola and house-made Nutella.
