Hotel and non-hotel guests alike are invited to enter through an outdoor garden that will lead them to the indoor portion of the space. Decorated with Italian marble, a large stone fountain and tons of lush greenery, this bar is a great escape from the busy West 3rd Street.
The beverage menu features cutting-edge cocktails prepared with modern techniques, plus an extensive wine list with a focus on local California wines. Signature cocktails include the Ordinary Madness, a bourbon old-fashioned riff with banana, toasted pecan and ginger; and the Ritz Diamond, a tropical aperitivo with gin, lychee, pine, lavender and sparkling wine.
Dishes are meant for sharing at The Bar at Short Stories Hotel, and there’s a large selection of small plates in addition to larger entree options. For starters, you can’t miss the bread with whipped butter and fleur de sel, the broccolini with gremolata and grilled lemon and the beets with cashew crema and orange oil. Order the salmon with butter bean, asparagus and Castelvetrano butter or the fettuccine with wild mushroom, cashew crema and truffle for your main dish. To finish off the meal, you won’t regret ordering the lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream and strawberries.
Happy hour is offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday, featuring various signature cocktails for $8 and food ranging from $5 to $12.
