URBANA Mexican Gastronomy & Mixology at Sky Deck in Del Mar is an award-winning restaurant featuring a menu influenced by the authentic offerings of Mexico.
Located in the trendy food hall in Del Mar, URBANA brings farm-fresh, Mexican-inspired plates, and an innovative dining experience for its guests. Owner Javier Cuadra was born in the culturally rich region of Michoacán, Mexico, and was raised on mouthwatering street foods. For Cuadra, URBANA is more than just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of his heritage and the traditions that have shaped his life. While set in the vibrant and lively Sky Deck, you feel tucked away at URBANA with the candle-lit ambiance that pays homage to the Dia de los Muertos celebration.
With mixology in the title of the restaurant, you can expect exciting and delicious handcrafted cocktails on the menu at URBANA. Classic margaritas and micheladas are found on the menu in addition to other unique, specialty cocktails and seasonal specials. The presentation is equally as important here, with some of the drinks being served in skull-shaped glasses.
Start your meal at URBANA with some sharable appetizers such as Chori-Brussels, made with flash-fried brussels sprouts, chorizo, balsamic reduction and cotija. The al pastor nachos is a fan-favorite and must-try as well, topped with guacamole, melted queso Oaxaca, crema, pico, pickled Fresno chilies, chipotle salsa and cilantro. The restaurant is also known for its ceviche, offering three different versions including shrimp, ahi and red snapper.
For entrees, the tacos are the star of the menu here at URBANA. Mix and match some classics like al pastor and carnitas, or get adventurous with its specialty taco selection. The crispy wagyu tacos are absolute perfection with queso fresco, crema and chili oil. You’ll also find other Mexican classics like enchiladas and burritos on the menu, but surprisingly the URBANA burger is a must-try here. Made with wagyu beef, melted queso Oaxaca, layered chorizo, wild arugula and cilantro aioli, this a burger you won’t soon forget.
URBANA is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Enjoy happy hour specials 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
