The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe

Who knew heaven on earth existed…or that it comes complete with its own private sandy beach, luxurious spa and beachside private pool, to boot! Meet The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe.

This bucket list destination, both the 2019 Preferred Hotels & Resorts Hotel of the Year and the 2018 Travel + Leisure Top Resort Hotel in the United States, is located in South Lake Tahoe on the California/Nevada border just steps from the famed Heavenly Mountain and Heavenly Village in California.

The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe opened to internationally fanfare in 2017. A winning combination of casual comforts and classic refinement, the 235-acre, LEED-certified lakefront resort – with the area’s only private beach – boasts 154 luxury guest rooms and suites, an 18-hole championship golf course, spa, salon, three acclaimed restaurants, intricate stone fire pits, daily s’mores, yoga, an après sleep experience, coffee bar and so much more. (In fact, now through late April, Edgewood even has Edgewood on Ice, an awe-inspiring ice skating experience!)

The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe Presidential Suite

Each room an in-room gas fireplace, terrace or balcony, flat-screen television, plush bedding, rainfall shower and access to the year-round heated lakeside pool, morning wellness activities including mediation and yoga, nightly s’mores, a state-of-the-art workout facility and Mercedes Benz shuttles. For those seeking elevated luxury on a nearly unrivaled level, look no further than the 1,000-sq.-ft. Edgewood Suites or the 1,500-sq.-ft. Edgewood Presidential Suite. The Edgewood Suite offers plenty of room to spread out and relax, complete with a cozy leather couches and expanded bathroom. The jaw-dropping Presidential Suite goes even a step further with a full formal dining room, floor-to-ceiling views of the lake and balcony so large and well-appointed (complete with indoor-outdoor fireplace, patio-friendly couches, lounge chairs and more) that it could easily accommodate a full family reunion, girls trip or bachelor party.

Edgewood Restaurant

When hungry for crave worthy cuisine (or a cocktail, perhaps), The Bistro, Edgewood Restaurant and Brooks’ Bar & Deck are merely steps away on property. Each a wholly different experience, The Bistro offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a view not to mention expertly crafted curated cocktails and a sommelier-curated wine list, while Edgewood is destination dining for dinner. And while open all day, Brooks’ Bar & Deck is absolutely the go-to spot post-golf or for one of the happiest happy hours you’ll likely ever experience.

Speaking of golf, Edgewood Tahoe’s historic 18-hole course was designed by PGA legend George Fazio and originally opened in the 1960’s. It has been named several times over as among Golf Digest’s top golf courses and offers a choice of four sets of tees, ranging in length from 5,343 yards to a demanding 7,529—providing a challenge for golfers of all skill levels.

And then, of course, there is The Spa at Edgewood. The 8,500-sq.-ft., state-of-the-art spa takes up nearly the entire second floor of the resort and is inspired both aesthetically and through its services by the innate natural beauty and serenity of the area.

The resort is also walking distance or a short drive to all sorts of great attractions even outside of Mount Heavenly, notably the Tahoe Beer Trail. Yes, the Lake Tahoe Chamber offers a handy, dandy map of how to best navigate through the exploding craft beer scene in the area via its Beer Trail. And for wine lovers, Edgewood is just a few miles from Tahoe Tastings, which offers daily wine tastings on Golden Rose, a vintage, one-of-a-kind 1953 Chris Craft Venetian Water Taxi. There are several tours, including a mid-day two-hour option that allows for the tasting of eight wines from nearby Northern California and an evening option timed out to enjoy the wine during sunset. Just some of the award-winning wines from the nearby California vineyards guests can expect to taste include Domaine Carneros, Lange Twins Family Winery, Navarro Vineyards, Rancho Victoria Vineyard, Renegade Winery, School Street and Via Romano Vineyard. There are also a private tour options amid COVID-19.
