Rumorosa San Diego

Derived from the dynamic Spanish phrase, meaning “akin to boisterous,” Rumorosa is the new signature restaurant at the recently renovated Sheraton San Diego Hotel.

A relaxed, yet sophisticated San Diego vibe, Rumorosa is a focal point of this waterfront hotel with stunning sunset views over the marina. The newly designed space features warm terracotta tones and blue accents that pay homage to the coastal locale. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer sun-drenched views of the marina and the evening brings a warm glow from a fire feature and an illuminated tree that sits as a focal point of the dining room. In addition to the main dining room, this San Diego restaurant features a casual bar near the hotel lobby and an elegant 16-seat private dining room that overlooks the marina.

The menu at Rumorosa features authentic Mexican dishes that have been reimagined with a Cali-Baja flair. Breakfast highlights include horchata overnight oats, chilaquiles con carnitas, churro pancakes, and steak and eggs benedicto. The lunch and dinner menus feature many sharable, family-style dishes for the table to enjoy together. The guacamole was one of our favorite starters, made with spicy cotija, radish, pomegranate seeds and served with chicharrones. The esquites, made with charred baby corn, chipotle aioli, cotija and cilantro, are a delightful appetizer as well.

For entrees at Rumorosa, our lunch pick is the street tacos, where you can choose from birria, carne asada, Baja fish or carnitas. For dinner, our favorite dish is the family-style grilled 24-oz. bavette steak served with bone marrow jus, cilantro chimichurri, baby corn rajas with huitlacoche. The bone-in 14-oz. Kurobuta pork Milanesa is not on the family-style menu, but it is certainly enough to share. This fan-favorite is served with pickled red onion, shaved cabbage and pozole verde sauce.

Complete your meal with some of Rumorosa’s border-inspired cocktails. Drinks such as the signature Golden Daiquiri, made with Uruapan Charanda, citric oleo, pressed lime, mint oil and citrus vapor cloche, and the Rancho Grande, made with Herradura Silver Tequila, fresh lime, hibiscus-vanilla concentrate, black salt and Topo Chico, complement the restaurant’s Cali-Baja inspired menu and vibe.
