Under Canvas Yosemite to Open in Spring 2025

Enveloped in the serene forest of Yosemite National Park, Under Canvas Yosemite, a lavish safari-inspired camp, will debut in Spring 2025.

Under Canvas, the leader in luxury outdoor hospitality, will open its first-ever camp in California, Under Canvas Yosemite. This marks a significant milestone for the group, with Yosemite opening as the 12th camp in its ever-growing collection.

Located just a brief 10-minute drive from Yosemite National Park’s west entrance at Big Oak Flat Information Station, the serene 80-acre camp boasts proximity to trailheads and a family-friendly natural swimming hole. With a YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) stop conveniently situated across from the camp’s entrance, guests can enjoy car-free access to the national park multiple times daily. Under Canvas Yosemite is set to commence its inaugural season on May 22, 2025, accepting reservations for stays from May 22 to Oct. 27, 2025.

“Under Canvas’ expansion into California has been our goal since the brand’s inception in 2012,” says Matt Gaghen, chief executive officer of Under Canvas, in a press release. “We look forward to bringing the Under Canvas experience to Yosemite, home to many outdoor enthusiasts and a sought-after destination for adventure travelers around the globe. Our spectacularly beautiful property will offer exceptional access to one of the most iconic national parks in the country, inviting guests to discover the beauty of the park and immersion in nature in an entirely new way.”

Yosemite National Park, California’s most-visited national park situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, is renowned for its numerous attractions, including majestic waterfalls like Yosemite Falls, vast sequoia groves, towering granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome and two remaining glaciers. Under Canvas’ Adventure Concierge will aid guests in booking in-park and local experiences, ranging from rafting, rock climbing and fly fishing to guided hiking, driving tours, stargazing and photography classes.

Each safari-inspired tent will offer luxe king-size beds, plush linens, USB charging packs, bedside lanterns, heated mattress pads, a private deck and an ensuite bathroom with a hot shower, sink and flushing toilet. To elevate the experience, Under Canvas Yosemite will also offer Stargazer tents, with a viewing window above the bed for stargazing and the El Capitan Suite tent, featuring two luxe tents connected by a private deck for larger groups and families.

Each tent and feature will be designed mindfully, aiming to develop each space with minimal disturbance to nature, maximizing open spaces and harmonizing with the natural landscape. Under Canvas camps prioritize sustainability by offering pull-chain showers, low-flow toilets, rechargeable battery pack chargers and low-level lighting. These measures ensure guests’ immersion in nature while reducing carbon footprints and energy and water usage.
