Fabulous People: Mindy Pometto

Mindy Pometto is the Team Lead of Carlsbad-based Pometto Team Realty. “I have a passion for connecting people and houses and the pleasure of helping San Diegans buy and sell real estate.” Learn about Mindy Pometto…

Hometown: Fresno, California; but I have a huge crush on my new hometown, Carlsbad!

First job: A talent scout for a modeling and acting company in La Jolla.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: Sitting in the sunshine at the beach or at a local rooftop patio with friends and family. Throwing on my sneakers and running along the Carlsbad coast. Watching my kids have the ultimate football or soccer game. Music is everything, so nights spent at the Belly Up with my husband. Oh, and a backyard crab feast, Maryland style.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Watching things grow! From my real estate business to my kids to my relationships. My greatest accomplishment is the community I have created and the clients I have helped achieve their dreams. That’s what I cherish the most.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Surviving and thriving after the mortgage meltdown of 2007. I started my career as a wholesale mortgage rep working for the now-infamous Lehman Brothers. My rebound started after being laid-off on my wedding weekend. Following an extended European honeymoon, I launched into real estate pregnant and in partnership with my husband.

Someone who inspires you and why: My twin brother, Johnny. Living with Type 1 diabetes hasn’t always been easy for him, but he lives his life with infectious optimism. He’s shown me what resilience is (on the daily) and that you can always find the good.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Our business is built on relationships so make them, lots of them!

Favorite quote: “We only live once, Snoopy. Wrong! We only die once. We live every day.”

“Start over, start late, start again, start back…JUST START. Delayed does not mean denied.” –Roberta Tabb

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I once owned a restaurant in Carlsbad called Jerry’s Woodfired Dogs. Now a thing of the past, but the memories and lessons will last forever. I’m proud that we were brave enough to take a chance and tough enough to move on. I do miss those tots!

What makes someone fabulous: The 3 C’s: Confidence, Charisma and Collaboration. You know who you are, what you want and are classy enough to bring others along for the ride!
