Summer Fun in Sonoma Valley

After an extraordinary winter, Sonoma Valley is now basking in the glory and warmth of summer. The region is buzzing with fresh news in its culinary landscape, from extended summer hours at your favorite wine room to sun-soaked outdoor events.  

Sonoma Valley is experiencing exciting developments in its culinary scene with the arrival of summer, including the return of Gundlach Bundschu’s Hot Summer Movie Night in the amphitheater. Movie-goers can expect a family-friendly evening at the winery on Aug. 12, where they will relax with a blanket, savor wines by the glass or bottle and enjoy complimentary popcorn and candy.

Following the arrival of the warm summer months, Sangiacomo Tasting Room at Home Ranch welcomes back Sunset on the Terrace, a unique seasonal tasting experience in the winery’s outdoor gardens. Additionally, Sangiacomo has extended its summer hours, offering more opportunities to sample its featured wines.

At Muscardini Cellars, guests can unwind with their favorite wine while enjoying musical stylings on their patio this summer. Some featured events at the tasting room include The Simmer Down Saturday music series featuring live performances from Jami Jamison Band and indulgent fare from TIPS Roadside food truck. This seasonal event will run weekly until Oct. 15.

New this summer in Sonoma Valley, the first-ever Pesto Festival is taking place on Sunday, Aug. 20, celebrating all the goodness and flavors of pesto. Guests can anticipate a delightful array of local pestos paired perfectly with artisanal bread, cheese, olive oil and pasta from local vendors. The 126th Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival will follow the pesto-extravaganza from Sept. 29 to Sept. 30, with the celebration of the 199th grape harvest taking place in Sonoma Valley. 

Abbot’s Passage is making Thursdays extra special this season with Throwback Thursdays, an event held on the first Thursday of every month. Enjoy pizzas fresh from the oven, games and music with a different throwback theme each month. 

In addition to this stellar lineup of events and experiences, La Prenda Wines has unveiled its inaugural vintage of Fifth Hill Durell Clone Syrah: 3031 Parmelee-Hill Syrah. This exceptional Syrah, made exclusively from the rare and historic Durell clone of Syrah, represents the pinnacle of wines under the brand’s Fifth Hill label.
