In the fall, San Diego’s iconic Marine Room at La Jolla Shores Hotel welcomed a new, neighboring oceanfront lounge concept. The Lounge at The Marine Room offers diners a chic, intimate setting for savoring innovative small bites and craft cocktails–and the sunset views certainly don’t hurt.
Marine Room is one of La Jolla’s most beloved fine-dining restaurants, host to incredible dishes and unique events, like the High Tide Dinner. Next door, those seeking a more exclusive, intimate dining experience head to The Lounge at The Marine Room. While the lounge menu is much smaller than that of its culinary counterpart, it makes up for it with its beyond-stylish setting, decked in ocean blues, gold accents and elegant seating. There is truly no better spot to catch the sunset, as windows line the wall, allowing guests to take in the cotton candy hues and water views.
The dishes featured at The Lounge at The Marine Room prove that quality is always greater than quantity. Small plates like the Moroccan lamb lollipop, with red horseradish cream, tzatziki, pistachio-almond crunch and mint chimichurri, and the Spanish octopus, with smoked cauliflower puree, mojo rojo, crispy quinoa, shishito and soy glaze, are beautifully presented and delicious.
For a truly jaw-dropping dish, it doesn’t get better than the divine Japanese A5 nigiri. Wagyu is paired with sushi rice, miso butter and osetra caviar for a trio of decadent, melt-in-your-mouth bites. Plus, the addition of the smoking dry ice in the presentation makes for a killer social media moment.
Divine desserts and creative cocktails round out the truly special dining experience at The Lounge at The Marine Room. The ever-changing crème brûlée is a must (during our visit, we enjoyed an unreal Thai tea option, complete with boba), while the summery Sunset View, with pineapple rum, coconut syrup, lime and strawberry, is aptly named for sipping while soaking in one of the prettiest sunsets of your life.
