Daniella Bragg’s Favorite San Diego Spots

San Diego native Daniella Bragg is known for sharing travel tips via her successful Instagram and TikTok accounts, @daniellabraggtravels. Here, Bragg shares her five favorite spots in San Diego–from outdoorsy adventures to creative outposts. “San Diego is such a beautiful place and, as a local, I hope to inspire others to try new things, whether it be a new restaurant opening in downtown or a local farmers market tucked away in a smaller part of town.”

1. Take a tour of the San Diego Bay with Speed Boat Adventures. This has been one of my favorite experiences by far and is great for first-time visitors and locals alike. You and another person get to drive your own speed boat as you zoom around the San Diego Bay with the rest of your group and a few tour guides. You’ll learn the history of each area you pass by and have a fun time!

2. Hike in Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and watch the sunset from the Torrey Pines Gliderport. Torrey Pines is absolutely beautiful and its hiking trails offer stunning coastal views. Plus, watching the sunset at the glider port is super special since you’ll see tons of hang gliders and paragliders floating on by and waves crashing below.

3. Visit Old Town where you can make your own candle and enjoy a variety of tastings. Old Town is an important part of San Diego’s history, and there are tons of fun things to do and even some hidden gems. While most people visit the area to try restaurants and go on a spooky tour through the Whaley House, Toby’s Candle & Soap Shop lets you dip and create your own candle with tons of styles to choose from. Plus, there’s a beef jerky and root beer shop which has the most flavors of both that you’ve probably ever seen. Finally, there’s tons of tastings throughout Old Town, including olive oil, chocolate, and wine tasting. One of my favorite hidden gems there gives out free, fresh, and handmade tortillas at a little stand (located near Casa de Reyes Restaurant).

4. Vist the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, specifically the La Jolla location. This is one of San Diego’s most beautiful museums, offering ocean views as you walk around and enjoy art exhibits, installations, and pieces. Plus, it’s right in La Jolla, meaning you can explore some of San Diego’s best beaches afterward.

5. Check out San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. I had to include these in this list because they’re absolute San Diego classics. Plus, they’re right next to each other, and downtown is only walking distance away, which is great for trying a new restaurant after a day of exploring the zoo and tons of different museums.
