Sagrada Wellness

Fully break away from the daily grind at Sagrada Wellness in Santa Margarita. The serene scenery of the Pozo Valley stretches out as far as the eye can see from this 45-acre destination yoga and wellness retreat center on California’s Central Coast.

This one-of-a-kind yoga retreat destination includes private and shared lodging, a hot tub, a pool and walking trails. Guests appreciate having several accommodations options to choose from when booking their stay. There are two-bedroom cottages, single bedrooms with shared bathroom access, plus a communal room with seven full/queen beds and one-and-a-half baths.

Although what typically draws visitors to Sagrada are the variety of wellness retreats the center offers. Each session has a particular focus such as Living Inspired; Yoga and Pilates; and Qigong and Hiking. Most of these retreats are four-day and three-night experiences that interweave meditation with exercise.

Other characteristics of the setting, in addition to the program itineraries, make it feel like a summer—or winter—camp for adults. Each day involves two to three periods of active movement, plenty of time outdoors and delicious meals (consisting of nutrient-dense salads, warming stews and from-scratch sauces) made by a small kitchen crew onsite. The latter are also primarily plant-based with additional dietary modifications catered to upon request.

Satisfying one’s appetite is equally as vital as making holistic movement a daily priority. Which is why health enthusiasts come to be reinvigorated in terms of their fitness motivation. Physical recreation like Bollywood dance, restorative yoga and meditative walks provide a chance to try new activities as well as experiment with mindfulness techniques from a fresh perspective.

Free time is also provided every afternoon during yoga retreats so that there’s time for mini jaunts to San Luis Obispo for those wanting to see more of California’s Central Coast while in the area—or are interested in having healing bodywork done at Sagrada Wellness by a practitioner trained in acupuncture, energy therapies, structural integration and/or Chinese medicine. This truly is one destination that has the capacity to recharge the mind, body and soul. Then draw you back again and again to rest in the now.

There are a variety of retreats on the agenda at Sagrada Wellness in March: March 7 to March 10: Yoga & Pilates Retreat; March 14 to March 17: Spring Renewal Yoga Retreat; and March 22 to March 24: Weekend Warrior Yoga Retreat.
