Hometown: Sarasota, Florida

First job: Working in my parent’s medical equipment supply company delivering equipment to those in need. The greatest memory is delivering a wheelchair to the hotel room of Richard Gere at the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota when he was filming the movie “Honky Tonk Freeway.” He was most gracious.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: As a resident of Santa Monica, I love the beaches, boardwalk, riding my bike with my family for miles along the boardwalk, partaking in all the exercise equipment on the beachfront, watching the breathtaking sunset every night and spending quiet moments with my beautiful wife listening to the sounds of the ocean.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Most anyone in my professional life would state his greatest accomplishment is being highly regarded as one of the most talented robotic surgeons of his time. However, in my mind, my greatest accomplishment is the transformation of our mutual vision for women’s intimate healthcare into a reality. Countless hours were dedicated to procuring the best therapeutic modalities, researching and testing the most innovative lasers for the intimate space, and developing the best surgical procedures to create the perfect intimate appearance our patients dream of. It is all about our endless dedication to women.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Simply, the willingness to not just think outside the box, but to actually recreate the box. Traditional medical training prepares every surgeon for basic and fundamental procedures. However, the best surgeon constantly recreates himself, adopting new technologies, and in my case, creating new treatments and surgeries. Fear is the greatest obstacle for most people, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of coming up short in your endeavors, but overcoming that fear is equivalent to climbing Mount Everest. It is forever an uphill battle, but reaching the summit is priceless.

Someone who inspires you and why: Why am I a urogynecologist? Solely because women inspire me…my mother was the first and my wife continues her legacy. The innate strength, nurturing qualities, fierce dedication to her mission, and the elegant grace displayed in every aspect of my wife’s life is my true inspiration. She laughs every time I remind her of one of our first times together when she would tell me, Dr. Kimble, you cast such a big shadow. My response was “Hereafter, I will forever exist in your shadow.”

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Remain stalwart, never waiver, always focus, and realize the efforts invested today will forge the path to your goal. You will encounter near insurmountable obstacles along this journey, so harness the strength contained within to remain steadfast in achieving your goals. Never settle for less, be bold and brave to become the doctor/surgeon you want to be.

Favorite quote: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” –Eleanor Roosevelt

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I am a closet gourmet cook. I have taught all my children the excitement of cooking and baking. All my kids have their own aprons and sous chef hats to join me in creating the evening feast.

What makes someone fabulous: Fabulous is making the world a better place, giving to your family/community in tangible ways. Fabulous is being the best in all circumstances especially when life seems unfair.
