Fabulous People: Lacey Morf

Lacey Morf is the president of PREP, a hair studio for all ages and genders that recently opened its fifth location, this time at City Center Bishop Ranch. PREP also sells its own hair care line that is available at its studios, through its website and on Amazon. Learn about Lacey Morf…

Hometown: Pleasant Hill, Calif.

First job: When my sisters and I were kids, my dad would take us to work with him. We earned the coveted title of “Scrapellas” (by picking up the carpet scraps). That experience has stuck with me in life. My first official job was at Paradise Bakery in Sunvalley Mall – a high school right of passage.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: Roadtripping! We enjoy spending time in Lake Tahoe, just a three- to four-hour drive from our home. My husband is from Hermosa Beach, and we love to spend time there with family. Also not much tops a weekend in wine country – our favorite being Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Personally, my biggest accomplishment is my daughters, Vivienne and Perrin. Professionally, my biggest accomplishment is growing PREP with my husband.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Not only keeping our business afloat but growing during the COVID-19 shutdown was incredibly challenging. It’s still something we have to fight through daily but I’m very proud to say we have five open locations of PREP.

Someone who inspires you and why: I’m inspired daily by my husband and everything he does for our business. He came into this not knowing anything about the hair industry, but he has poured himself into every aspect. We joke that his next move will be cosmetology school. I’m also incredibly inspired by my father and father-in-law, both entrepreneurs who built successful businesses from the ground up. I’m lucky to be inspired by every member of my family, and if I had the room to write why, I would!

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Have a clear vision, but be willing to adapt. Finding the right staff is imperative for success and customer service is what will set you apart in this saturated field. Stay current on industry laws. Be ready for anything.

Favorite quote: ”Comparison is the thief of joy.” –Theodore Roosevelt

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’ve never been to Hawaii.

What makes someone fabulous: Confidence and a true sense of self.
