Dockside 1953, a new upscale restaurant, is now open at Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Bay in San Diego. Aptly named for its views of the bay and the year that the Bahia Resort Hotel opened, Dockside 1953 offers a fabulous waterfront setting, nautical-inspired design and eclectic menu of dishes by Executive Chef Bryan Stuppy.
“The Dockside 1953 name conjures up fond memories of the Bahia Resort in the 1950s, as Mission Bay’s premier hotel. Dockside 1953’s light and airy, casual-Californian beachside design is exactly what you would want from a bayside dining experience. The restaurant features yacht club-inspired furniture, décor and furnishings, including table tops and menu boards that resemble vintage wooden boat decking, brass signage, nautical style light fixtures, blue wave-patterned tapestries, and seafoam blue and sand-colored upholstered seating. The venue features a spacious outdoor patio with fire pits and views of the bay.
The eclectic menu of California fare was created by Bryan Stuppy, executive chef of Dockside 1953, who has worked with world-class chefs, helped lead the kitchens of luxury hotels, and even cooked for President Obama (twice) and Hollywood celebrities. The cuisine is fresh, coastal-inspired and locally sourced, serving guests breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
Menu standouts include the locally-caught rockfish ceviche, wagyu-and-lamb meatballs and bistro steamed mussels. In addition to a stellar culinary program, the restaurant also offers creative expertly crafted cocktails, several of which pay tribute to the cocktail trends of the 1950’s.
