Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen, a Fullerton-based restaurant that focuses on Pakistan, India and Afghanistan influences, is gearing up for Diwali with a special menu to honor the holiday. Diwali, celebrated this year on Nov. 12, is a significant cultural and religious festival in India. It signifies the start of the fiscal year and symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Those who observe Diwali look forward to a year of prosperity and abundance. The festivities include the lighting of Diyas (lamps), home decorations, prayers, gift-giving and, of course, indulging in a delectable feast.

KhanSaab OC restaurant week

To honor this vibrant holiday, Executive Chef Ali and his talented culinary team at Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen have curated a special menu that captures the essence of Diwali, providing a unique dining experience for their guests. The limited-time Diwali offerings include three delightful dishes, each showcasing the richness of Indian cuisine. These plates include a deconstructed Samosa Chaat, an innovative twist on the classic Indian street food that combines mountain potatoes, English peas and a harmonious blend of mint and tamarind chutney; a Northern Indian staple, Hara Bhara Kabab, with patties made from a medley of leafy greens and vegetables, including spinach, mustard leaves, potato and garbanzo stuffing; and Khan Saab’s rendition of a South Asian classic, Mushroom Korma, a rich cream sauce with mushrooms and coconut curry undertones.

Complete your meal with sips from its mocktail lineup, including the Mango Mojito with mango nectar, mint, Jaggery and lime; Naswari with Seedlip Grove 42, caramel, spiced orange and ginger ale; or a smoked Negroni with Seedlip Spice 94, rose syrup and palo santo bitters. The bar also serves non-alcoholic bubbly, brews, spirits and more.

Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen is open Monday to Friday, from 4 to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, from 2 to 11 p.m.
