Lounge at Marine Room Opens in San Diego

It’s time to make a splash in style. The renowned Marine Room in San Diego has debuted its newly renovated dining area and a beachfront lounge design known as the Lounge at The Marine Room. With a menu of imaginative small plates, one-of-a-kind delicacies and chef-driven cocktails, this seaside slice of heaven provides breathtaking ocean views and divine dining experiences.

Design partner Studio UNLTD drew influence from the coastal setting in order to elevate and modernize the lounge’s interiors. Crisp white ceilings contrast the honey-blond wood floors, while blue hues ranging from light seafoam to deep turquoise make for a cordial yet classy color scheme. Small details make big statements at the Lounge at The Marine Room. Meandering seating, including a unique curved sofa in opulent bone-colored chenille with gold flecks, is set against a vivid carpet with colors and shapes to portray stormy seas and splashing waves. Even the soffit above the bar has wood sheathing in a delicate yet dramatic ribbed pattern, emphasizing its distinctive wave-inspired architecture.

In velvety pewter-colored bar chairs with swiveling seats, guests can spin, socialize and share the atmosphere of the spectacular coastal setting. A few more glistening touches include brass accents and handcrafted tabletops with mosaic patterns of shimmering golden-hued glass that resemble shattered sea glass. Additionally, an abundance of greenery greets guests at the entrance, and standalone planters scattered throughout the lounge complete the upgraded design.

“We’re excited to offer our guests an exclusive experience to match our incomparable views of La Jolla cove and shores,” says Executive Chef Mike Minor in a press release. “The lounge gives us a stage from which to showcase an all-new menu presented in a way that’s engaging, seductive and creative. It’s all about luxury and indulgence in an atmosphere that’s refined but with a vibe that’s more relaxed than diners have known in the past.”

The new Lounge at The Marine Room environment complements Chef Minor’s enthusiasm for cooking with top-quality ingredients and crafting awe-inspiring presentations. The menu features timeless favorites with whimsical twists. From delicacies like surf and turf with Hokkaido scallops, Kurobuta pork belly, caviar and a bacon-whiskey jam, to meals like dry-aged bluefin tuna carpaccio served with lemon oil, ginger, yuzu, black winter truffle and garlic chili oil. Additionally, a caviar flight shines through with the help of quality Champagne pairings, while the tenderloin tartare tempts with fermented pineapple mustard aioli, bone marrow butter and pretzels.

You also can’t miss out on the chance to sip a beverage while overlooking a La Jolla sunset. A house-made wagyu-infused Old Fashioned with rye whiskey, aromatic bitters and an orange twist is presented with a blissful bubble of smoke for a distinctive fiery finish. And a deconstructed margarita is made with Extra Anejo tequila, agave and lime and is served on the rocks. Of course, there is also wine. The Marine Room’s outstanding wine list recently earned it a “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator; similarly, outstanding by-the-glass options will be available in the lounge.

Lounge at the Marine Room is open 4 to 11 p.m. The minimum meal and beverage expenditure per guest is $100 and is well worth it for this unique two-hour seaside dining experience. To learn more about Lounge at the Marine Room, visit marineroom.com.
