March 23: Beach Bunny & Kite Festival

San Diego

On March 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., hop on over to Seaport Village in San Diego to snap a pic with the Beach Bunny (who’ll be riding the waves!) and check out dozens of kites soaring over the water. And, of course, shop treats and other goods to add to those Easter baskets thanks to Seaport Village’s wide array of retailers.

March 23 and March 24: Easter Eggspress: Egg Quest and Story Time

San Diego

San Diego Model Railroad Museum at Balboa Park hosts a before-hours event to immerse children in an egg quest around the museum, special trains running in the Toy Train Gallery, arts and crafts, Easter Bunny visits and storytime. During this Easter event in Southern California–once you’ve finished the egg hunt and dug into some candy–enjoy museum admission for the rest of the day. The event takes place from 9 to 10 a.m. both days.
Cost: $20 per person, ages 2 and up. Children’s tickets include access to all Easter events.

Join Parkway Plaza in El Cajon on Wednesday, March 27, from 1 to 3 p.m., for its annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Local elementary schools will compete in a live giant egg-painting competition for a chance to win a donation for their arts program. For those not participating in the contest, there will be bunny hop sack races, face painting, giveaways and more at this Easter event in Southern California. Plus, from March 16 to March 30, Parkway Plaza hosts photos with the Easter Bunny, while pet moms and dads can bring their animals (domesticated pets only) for pics with the Bunny on March 20 and March 27.

Belmont Park turns into a lovely, springy setting during the third-annual Belmont in Bloom festival, making it the perfect Easter weekend destination in San Diego. From March 30 to May 27, the beachfront amusement park will be beautified with floral displays and spring sculptures. Guests can check out interactive art installations scattered throughout Belmont Park, paired with seasonal treats, live music and local community performances.
