Derek Cardoza is a real estate advisor with Engel & Völkers Beverly Hills. “I am an ethical deal maker and market expert who provides exemplary concierge service to my clients on all their real estate endeavors from residential, commercial, yachts and aviation.” Learn about Derek Cardoza…

Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts

First job: Retail sales at Chess King clothing store

Favorite ways to spend your free time in CA: Being a connector and touring the most beautiful homes.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment has been my ability to re-create myself and succeed in the different phases of my professional life. I started my first business with no experience at the age of 22. A valet parking company that became the largest, most consistent customer service-oriented valet parking company in Boston. After selling it, I took the sales and people skills I had learned into the next chapter of my career, the healing arts and massage therapy. This is where my passion for helping people really took hold and prepared me for my endeavor in the world of real estate. Each time I wanted to take on new and different challenges in my career, I had the confidence and ability to recreate myself by honing in on the cumulative knowledge of where I had been. This has always been my formula for success and still is today.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: My ego.

Someone who inspires you and why: My fiancé, Toni Lamb. She is the most genuine, consistent, evolved, supportive, loving, inviting being in my life who gets my sense of humor!

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Do not fake it ‘til you make it.

Favorite quote: “Give without expectation, receive without taking.”

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I was hit by a truck when I was 10 years old. True story.

What makes someone fabulous: I think someone who is fabulous is a person who is authentic and connects with all walks of life. They have a kind heart and are generally interested in the well-being of others whether family, friend or stranger. They look at life as an opportunity to connect with people to make life more enjoyable.
